His. Excellency, The Governor of Benue state, Dr. Samuel Ortom on Wednesday 09/09/2020 presented a certificate of enthronement and staff of office to the newly elected (Ad’Enone) First Class Chief of Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo Local Government Areas, His Royal Majesty, Chief. Engr. George Aboh Edeh
The Governor who was represented by the secretary to the State Government, Prof. Tony Ijoho (SAN) presented the certificate to the first the First Class Chief of Eno’ne at the cabinet office in Makurdi.
Recall that the immediate Past Head of Civil Service of Benue State, Engr George Edeh, emerged as the new First Class Chief of Enone (Ado/ Okpokwu/ Ogbadibo) on the 17th August 2020 after an election described as most free and fair both by participatants and observers.
He emerged after pulling 24 votes out of 37 valid votes cast to beat his unmatched distance rival Christopher Onumah who scored 8 votes followed by Mr Uba Obande who came distant 3rd with 5 votes.
The exercise which took place at the Okpoga township stadium in Okpoga, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State featured other contenders among who were Hon James Aboh Edeh, Chief Julius Iguve and Mr Augustine Ogbu who were all disqualified by the chairman of the electoral panel, Chief Ode Enyi for their inability to secure nominations.
The election which was adjudged to be free and fair by many observers including the Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue state on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Jerome Tor Shimbe and his counterpart on Religion and Civil Society, Rev Blessed Onah was to allow for the replacement of the Late Chief Obande Obeya who untill he joined his ancestors was the occupant to the throne.
