Former US President Donald Trump is suing New York Attorney General Laetitia James, claiming her two-year “biased” investigation into his business relationship violates his civil rights. Democrat AG has promised to continue its investigation.

Lawyers for the 45th president and the Trump Organization have filed a complaint with a federal judge in the Northern District of New York, several media outlets reported Monday.

“Laetitia James targets President Trump, blatantly disregarding the ethical and moral obligations she vowed to honor when she became attorney general.” This is stated in the message of the lawyer Alina Khabba. “She deceived the state by launching this guerrilla investigation and tarnished the sanctity of her office forever.”

The claim is intended “Not only to bring her to justice for flagrant violations of the constitution, but also to stop her fierce crusade in order to punish her political opponents,” – added Hubba.

James, a Democrat, was elected AG in 2018 following a campaign to investigate Trump’s business dealings. She, too, targeted the governor’s office, but suspended her campaign on December 9 and decided to run for re-election, stating that they were “Important Investigations” she needed to finish. Earlier in the day, her office announced that Trump would be summoned to testify on January 7.

“The Trump organization has continually tried to postpone our investigation into its business relationship.” James said in response to the claim. “Our investigation will continue because no one is above the law, not even someone named Trump.”

James claims the Trump Organization lied to banks or tax authorities about the value of its assets in order to get favorable loan terms or minimize taxes. Trump’s real estate headquarters is still in New York, although the 45th president officially moved to Florida during his time at the White House, citing Democrat. “Witch-hunt” in its native state.
