As seen in the first series of this devotional, many things happen to us that make us think and doubt whether there is God. This is more glaring when we feel we have done much good for God to prove we love Him, serve Him and separated ourselves for Him. It is not a sinful action to think or ask why God should allow certain evil things happen to us. It only becomes a sin when this question is rooted to anger causing one to pull self away from God. In the Bible, many God’s faithfuls had asked the question “why” due to uncertainties happening around them.
Moses could not withstand the cries of hunger of his people in the wilderness and he asked God why He laid the burden of the people on him (Num. 11: 9 – 11). King David did ask the questions “why” at many places. In Psa. 10: 1-2 David said: “Why do you seem to stand afar off and hide Yourself in times of trouble?” King David felt too that God was no longer willing to hear His groaning then said: “Why are you so far from helping me and do not hear my groaning?” (Psalm 22:1-2). _Prophet Jeremiah, upon all assurance from God of going to be with him at the course of his prophetic ministry, asked God when his pain became unbearable thus: “Why is my pain perpetual? Are you a liar and unreliable?” (Jeremiah 15:18). Prophet Habakkuk could not understand how God allows the righteous suffering in the hands of the wicked people and asked the “why” questions. He asked: “Why do you allow wickedness to win and allow good people to suffer? (Habakkuk 1:3). _He would ask again: “Why are you silent when the wicked destroy those who are more righteous than they? You are not fair!” (Habakkuk 1:12-13)._
The focus of today’s devotional point to a fact how Christians might be allowed to pass through ugly things, most often, on God’s purposes. We must however know that these things could come from God’s designs. Apostle Paul tells us that: “For of Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things…” (Rom. 11: 36). This means that all things that happen are through God, In Him and for Him. This passage is very important in this discussion. It makes things clearer that nothing happens to us without first known by God, allowed by God that tends to bring out God’s glory. God is not bound by our negative emotional reactions, when He wants us to experience hardship with divine understanding after which the experience will show forth His glory later on. Jesus His Beloved Son and in whom He is well pleased, nearly refuse to complete His assignment on seeing the nature of punishments laid down for Him for dying on the Cross. Jesus prayed that the cup should pass from Him (Matt. 26: 39). God did not answer the prayer. On the Cross and at the crucial pains, Jesus cried out with the why cry saying: “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matt. 27: 46). But at last, after Jesus’ resurrection, God placed His name above all other names on earth and in heaven (Eph. 2: 9 – 11). Beloved, don’t you think God is preparing you for higher glory by passing you through the situation you’re in right now? God’s processes of establishing us are different from those of other human beings. Just endure a little with prayers and faith. The ugly today is transforming into glorious tomorrow. Amen!
PRAYER:
FATHER GOD, give me the divine strength and endurance to pass through every moment of my trial on earth, till your glory will show upon me. I ask this through the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
POSITIVE DECLARATION:
God, who allows my ugly situations to come upon me, will soon lift the burdens off my shoulders. Hallelujah!!
