Mercy is a kind or gentle treatment of others. Mercy is an act of showing compassion to someone who deserve to be punished. Mercy includes being caring, to be compassionate and gentle. To be affected by the suffering of others, to help people who are in very dire need. To show sympathy, to forgive, tender hearted, liberal, refrain from punishing people who have offended you. Mercy is shown to peace who don’t deserve it, it is a higher level of forgiveness. They are some people who have so wronged you and you wish they are dead; but mercy says, “I forgive you”.
Matt. 9: 13, God will prefer you show mercy than to pay your tithe and offering with unforgiven heart, Because God’s mercy outlives His anger. Worshiping God with unforgiving heart is not acceptable to God. Mercy must come from the heart that has experienced the mercy of God. If you do not see yourself as someone who do not deserve God but God loves you anyway, then you cannot show mercy to others. Showing mercy is depended on how you understand what God has done for you. When you are humble and dead to self, it becomes easy to show mercy to others.
Mercy is a character of God (Psalm 103:8) “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger”. (Psalm 130: 3)” If you, O lord, kept a record of sins, O lord, who could stand?” The grace of God could not be more beautifully described. As sinners, we cause him pain, yet he responds to us so entirely unlike how we are inclined to respond to those who hurt us. When someone treats us badly, we feel justified to treat the person badly in return, they deserve it! We think. We too deserve God’s wrath, but He gives us His compassion and abundant love instead. He treats us the very opposite way we deserve to be treated.
PRAYER POINT:
God, if you are to judge my sins, were can I stand? I offend you every day and you are not tired of loving me. Give me the heart to love like you and to forgive easily.
CONFESSION:
By the grace of God, I will love and show mercy unconditionally.
