The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ebonyi State Chapter in Nigeria has commiserated with the management and staff state’s Broadcasting Corporation, EBBC, and the family of late newscaster, Evelyn Aligwe
The Council expressed deep shock over the death of her member,.describing it as one death, too many.
A statement issued by the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Council of NUJ, Samson Nwafor said the incident was devastating, as the Union just lost a renowned broadcaster and one of its members, not long ago.
According to the statement, the late Mrs Aligwe was a staff of the Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation, EBBC, who carved a niche for herself as a Presenter of note.
The statement reads in part, “It is indeed devastating for NUJ to again lose a precious member in the person of Evelyn who showed patriotic interest in the affairs of the union. Her sudden death is too painful. And for us, it is one death, too many.”
It described the late presenter as an easy going person, and one who discharged her duties with every sense of commitment and sincerity.
The Statement added that the NUJ is praying for the peaceful repose of her soul and for God to grant her family, the Management and Staff of EBBC, and the Council the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Mrs Aligwe died on Tuesday after a brief illness.
