Mary Chinedu Ogah, wife of the member representing Ikwo Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Hon. Chinedu Ogah has urged women to show love and respect to their husband to foster peace and unity in the family.
Mrs. Ogah stated this during the 2024 Ikwo/Ezza South Local August Meeting at Central Nursery and Primary School, Agubia Ikwo.
She commended the First Lady of Ebonyi State, Her Excellency Chief Mrs. Maudlin Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru (Ogbanku), for her efforts in promoting women’s inclusiveness in the current administration. She particularly highlighted the work of the Better Health for Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO) foundation in supporting elderly women and the less privileged.
“Our First Lady has set a standard for us to follow, ensuring positive influence at the grassroots level,” Mrs. Ogah stated. “Today, we celebrate every woman for their unwavering support and role in their families.”
Mrs. Ogah also called on women to be active in nurturing and raising their children, emphasizing the importance of working harmoniously with their husbands to achieve common goals. “A wise woman builds her home, shows genuine love, and supports her husband’s leadership in the family,” she added.
The wife of the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Mrs. Florence Ije Odunwa, who chaired the occasion, commended the women for their participation and advised them to keep their homes free from conflict.
Lectures were delivered by resource persons such as Mrs. Igwe Chinedu and Chief Mrs. Okeagu Goddy Ogada, who emphasized the qualities of a good woman and wife, including being a caregiver, teacher, nurse, doctor, and dietician within the home. They urged women to prioritize giving over increasing their standard of living.
During the event, the Association of Micro Credit Institute of Nigeria, led by Hon. Mrs. Nweke Comfort, announced plans to empower women at the event in agriculture by providing seedlings and promoting organic farming.
The highlights of the August Meeting celebration included a medical outreach, awards presentation, cooking competition by Honeywell Company, dancing competition, and cultural displays. Mrs. Ogah distributed 155 bags of fertilizer and 36 bags of onions to Constituents.
The event was attended by representatives of the Wife of the Governor of Ebonyi State, Commissioner for Women Affairs Hon. Mrs. Felicia Nwamkpuma, Hon. Mrs. Euphemia Nwali, and other dignitaries, including local government officials and women’s groups.
