PRESS RELEASE Member Representing Gombi/ Hong Federal Constituency and Chairman, Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives,Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari and members of the National Executive Committee ( NEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC) for their decisive action on the several issues in the Party,which he described as ” seeking to pull it down on its knees”. In a letter written to congratulate the Chairman,APC Caretaker and Extra- Ordinary Convention- Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni ,which was made available to his Media Department this morning,Rt. Hon. Buba said the choice of a consummate Party man and Party Administrator of many years’ standing in the Yobe State Governor was all that the APC needed for self-redemption. The letter reads: ” I write to commend His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari,GCFR,President and Commander- in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for demostrating leadership at the last National Executive Committee of the APC held at the State House ,Abuja, to address the many suits, counter-suits and claims over the leadership of our Party,the APC,by different members of the then NWC. “To say the least,the wielding of the dissolution hammer by Mr. President and Leader of the Party on the erstwhile NWC is the best thing that has happened to the Party in the prevailing circumstances in order to address the several contending issues that were seeking to bring the Party down on its knees. “I, therefore,wish to congratulate Your Excellency,the Governor, on your choice by members of the NEC to lead the new charge of repositioning the Party and enthroning a new NWC . “Your Excellency’ s appointment in the above regard,to people like us,is no fluke and had not come as a big surprise. This appointment has , actually,been informed by your rich experience as a consummate Party man and political Party Administrator of many years’ standing coupled with the effective calm and gentle disposition,which you have over the years deployed into leadership and public service wherever you have served. “For myself and on behalf of my family and,indeed,the good people of Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency,who I represent at the National Assembly,I wish to convey to Your Excellency,the Governor,our congratulations and best wishes on this new national task. We are confident, and also pray, that you will effectively deploy your rich experience to this new task”, Buba ended. It will be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had after the NEC Meeting of the APC initiated by the then Acting National Chairman of the Party, Victor Giadom,which was partly held in the State House,Abuja,last week, announced the dissolution of the then National Working Committee and the appointment of a new Caretaker and Convention- Planning Committee led by Mai Mala Buni,the Governor of Yobe State and former National Secretary of the APC. The President,in his capacity as the Leader of the Party also directed a cessation of all hostilities among members of the erstwhile NWC and the discontinuation of all pending actions in court instituted by Party members on account of the Party leadership claims and counter claims.
