A governorship hopeful in Ebonyi State under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh has described the signing of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2022 by President Muhammadu Buhari as a victory for democracy and the people.

The gubernatorial aspirant in an interview with journalists in Abakaliki, weekend, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for signing the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

Eze, who encouraged Nigerians not to be tired of ensuring that democracy continues to work in the country, said the signing of the electoral act amendment bill provides an opportunity for the citizenry to be part of the efforts to build a New Nigeria

He said, “I must sincerely commend President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for signing the electoral Act Amendment Bill 2022, on Friday 25 February 2022.

“This is a total victory to our democracy and a return of power to the people. I also wish to commend the civil society organisations and indeed Nigerians on signed electoral acts. We emphasis that the contentious clause 84(12) is the type of push back we need in order to secure our electoral space.

“Going forward, and as much as it is painful that we have to fight for everything positive to happen in Nigeria, we must not tire but normalise the fact that Democracy is a continuous work in progress. We must never again let our eyes off the ball.

“The signing of this electoral act amendment bill provides an opportunity for us to be part of the efforts to build a New Nigeria by voting credible leaders to power because our vote will truly count in the next general election 2023.

“This is a step towards the conduct of credible elections as the electoral umpire, the political parties, aspirants and other critical stakeholders have a legal document to guide them.

“I would like to urge and encourage all Eligible voter’s in Ebonyi State to get their PVC ready and those who have not got their PVC to go register and collect their PVC.

“Our PVC remains the sure way to vote out bad governance and build a better future for our dear state. As I’m committed to Recover, Rebuild and Restore the dignity of Ndi Ebonyi in order to actualise the dreams of our founding fathers.

“2023 is another opportunity to right the wrongs we made in the past. The professional and indeed every progressive should get into the political field of play. This is our time.I Aldo wish to commend INEC leadership for their determination to give Nigerians an improved electoral system”, he stated.
