As seen in yesterday’s devotional, there are earthly leaders, rich and wealthy people, highly influential politicians and religious leaders who have assumed they are gods to the poor and the less privileged. They wielded powers and authorities without the fear of the LORD. But in all, only God has a “Mighty Hand” to do and undo. The Bible story of how the Israelites left Egypt typified how mighty is God’s hand as pointed out by Moses in Exodus 13. For about 40 years the Israelites were held down as slaves by the Egyptians. The Israelites were starved, tortured and dehumanized by the Egyptians. When after Moses met Pharaoh to let his people go, the sufferings of the Israelites were intensified. God came down at several areas showing Pharaoh His Power. Pharaoh kept being stubborn. Then God brought out His Mighty Hand that killed all the first-borns of the Egyptians as well as the first-borns of their livestock (Exod. 13: 14). Egypt was the world power then. Yet the invisible Mighty Hand of God killed her first-borns. King Pharaoh ruled with a rod of iron and by draconic laws. Yet God’s Mighty Hand caught in and killed the first-borns.
Question is, where was the might of Pharaoh? Other questions are: Where were the great magicians in Egypt when the angels of God were carrying out the massacre of their first-borns? Where were the great Egyptians army with their military training? What this translates is that no mortal man can face God’s Mighty Hand when He is set to deal with human beings. King David captured the mighty nature of God in another form in Psalms 93: 1 – 4). He said there that “God Reigneth and clothed with majesty, the LORD is clothed with strength wherewith he hath girded (armed) himself…” (KJV). King David concluded in verse four that God is “Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea – the LORD on high is mighty.”
As Christians in this age where many world leaders seem to have ganged up against, we must know that God’s Mighty Hand is still available. His Mighty Hand is that which created the world and all the beautiful natures in it. His Mighty Hand had severally preserved those who believed in Him from tyrants and the murderous leaders of the earth. God has used His Mighty Hands to correct many world leaders who rose against Him in disastrous ways. My dear readers, I may not know how helpless and hopeless the world has reduced you to. But I can assure you that God’s Mighty Hand is about rescuing you from your tormentors. He is ever greater and mightier. Perhaps, you are too scared about the blood tasting leaders. God’s hands can still subdue them. Trust Him who says: – “See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand” (Deut. 32: 39 KJV).
Pray, asking God to allow His Mighty Hand be found around you as many times as enemies come to destroy you. Ask God to disgrace and put to shame all those who have planned to hold you as their perpetual slave in the name of Jesus Christ.
