The scripture has said as seen above that “For him is joined to all the living there is hope…”. If there is hope for the living, it means every living thing that has breathe has hope while alive. Reason the insect illustrated in yesterday’s devotional had hope till its helper emerged. However, thoughts of death dominate many people when their ugly situations seem to defile surviving. The story of Lazarus shows us that Mary and Martha had limited hope that their brother would live. They were vindicated when Lazarus died. For the Disciples of Jesus, all hope has been lost when Jesus told them that Lazarus is death. Thomas said then, why going to Bethel again. Even at the news of the death of Lazarus, Jesus said the sickness is not ending in death.
Today’s devotional comes to tell every soul on sick bed that their sicknesses are not unto death, meaning will not end in their dying. Many who trusted God while passing through deadly sicknesses came out of it. Some Doctors gave them few days to live, but trusting God absolutely brought them back to life. This devotional comes to tell everyone reading it that difficult time is not unto death. Like the sickness of Lazarus, some difficult times come to usher in the glory of God. The glory of God shows when His miraculous power overwhelms the difficulties. At the mouth of Lazarus’ tomb, Jesus felt the pangs, the woes, the pains and sorrows of Martha and Mary. He wept with them. This shows that our pains are still His pains. Our hard conditions affect Jesus emotionally still. He will surely come around us.
The beloved in Christ, the world over is full of difficulties, hardships and traumatic circumstances. We have many dead living people on the streets these days than any other periods. The encouragement here is that those things will not end in our dying. Just trust God and His Son Jesus Christ. Human beings are always in captivities of their leaders. The less privileged are at the mercy of the highly favoured of the gods of this earth. But Jesus is fast approaching our sides. The days in between when Lazarus was sick till the day he died seemed to the sisters like many years. He died and was buried, yet for three days Jesus never showed up. The fourth day could be the last day of the mourning of Lazarus. Suddenly, Jesus appeared. He went to the tomb and called out Lazarus. He came out! The Glory of God showed mightier amongst the people. Let this be your hope, readers. That things you think came to take away your life will not in Jesus name.
PRAYER:
With absolute trust in the power of resurrection of Jesus, pray asking Jesus to destroy every deadly circumstance around you and your families today. Tell Jesus that the circumstance is not unto death!
