Director of special projects and new media of the All Progressives Congress (APC), presidential campaign council, Femi Fani-Kayode, yesterday recounted his ordeal at the Department of State Services (DSS) at its headquarters in Abuja, saying he was thoroughly grilled by operatives of the secret police.
He said he won’t tweet the same way he did on his Twitter handle about an alleged coup plot involving former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and military top brass if he were to do so a second time.
The former minister of Aviation, who stated this while addressing journalists after leaving the DSS after he was grilled for over five hours, admitted that he would have been more circumspect.
The DSS had invited Fani-Kayode for interrogation over his tweet that some military generals were meeting with presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to hatch a coup plot.
Recounting his ordeal in the hands of the DSS, he said though he was thoroughly grilled, he was handled professionally without torture and asked to return on Wednesday for further investigations.
Fani-Kayode noted that the experience he had in the DSS custody was not the type he would wish his enemy.
He stated: “I spent about five hours. I was subjected to thorough grilling; they were very thorough and highly professional in their interrogation.
“I was asked to go back on Wednesday for further interrogation. The place anybody wouldn’t want to go, I think is the DSS. If I were to do it a second time, I won’t tweet this same way.”
Recall that there was a call by the special assistant public communications, to the Atiku/Okowa campaign council, Phrank Shaibu, who asked the DSS and other security agencies to invite Fani-Kayode to explain his insinuations of a coup d’etat by top army generals.
