Humanly speaking, every action taken by ordinary person is justifiable in the mind of the one who took the action. This is applicable to those who willingly and deliberately desire to remain ignorant of the truth about God and Jesus, so that they will not be judged by their actions. To some others, pretending not to know certain thing is the cleaver ways to stay safe from the ambits of the society law. Amongst the Christians, many are in the church deliberately refusing to accept many teachings so as to be freed from the wrath of God. The question is whether pretending not to know what is true gives one freedom from God’s wrath. Certainly not! It is act of foolishness to think God does shift certain punishment from those pretending not to know His Laws. God knows all things even the things going on in our minds.
The Biblical truth is that there is danger to put up willingly ignorance so as to escape God’s wrath. The scripture has said that: “…to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin (James 4: 17 KJV). Whether we like it or not, refusing to believe in God and do His will go with punishments. The Bible says that the souls that sin must die (Ezekiel 18: 20). This includes sin of willful ignorance. It is hard to see a place that the word of God has not been preached in this world now. Since almost every person in the world has heard about God, no one will be excused from the punishment of rejecting His Words. The Bible quoted God saying: “But if they do not listen, they perish by the sword and die without knowledge” (Job 36: 12). There are lots of evil things that could happen to all individuals or nations who deliberately reject knowing God.
All the dangerous sicknesses, diseases and catastrophes happening in the world of todays are nothing but our outright rejection of God. Those rejecting God are those saying ‘how can God have authority over us?’ They are the ones the Bible talks about as the nations that rage and people plotting a vain thing against God (Psa. 2: 1-3). God usually rebukes and scoff those refusing to work with His Words. Psalms 2: 5 says of God: “Then He rebukes them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath…” (NIV). One of the Biblical meanings of rebuke is ‘reprimand’. There are other words like contend with and reproach used for rebuke. Who will withstand God if He reprimands, contends with and reproaches him or her? By the word ‘scoff’ it means whoever rejects God, He will treat him/her with derision. It also stands that God ridicules a nation or individual who rejects Him as Almighty. The beloved, let us be wise not to refuse anything about God!
PRAYER:
Pray and ask God to forgive you in any ways you have shown disregard to His Headship over your life. Also, ask God to withdraw His wrath from your nation because of those rejecting Him as their Creator and God in Jesus name.
