O
Events in life have ever follow recurring decimals where things repeat themselves though differently. Until we know that what has been will always be, our emotional, physical and spiritual reactions to events in life will affect us negatively. In Eccl. 1: 9, the Bible says this: “History is merely repeats itself. It has been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new” (Africa Study Bible). In today’s devotional, we will be looking at other things which point to facts that everything we are witnessing in our world today are never new in its entirety. For instance, people have been dying and will continue to die. Criminally minded people have been in the world and will continue to exist.
When we take a look at politicking, desperate politicians who kill and maim people to win positions have been in existence. People have corrupted leaders in politics for selfish gains from inceptions of the world. People in authorities have received bribes in the like of money, materials, sexual gifts and drinks. Gifts of wines and women have caused many leaders compromised. The advice given to one Lemuel in Proverbs 31: 4 – 5 lay credence to this: “O my son, O son of my womb, O son of my vows, do not waste your strength on women, on those who ruin kings. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, to guzzle wine. Rulers should not crave alcohol. For if they drink, they may forget the law and not give justice to the oppressed” (Prov. 31: 2 – 5). The mother of Lemuel might have likely seen how a King’s integrity and sense of judgment had been messed up by drinking of wines, precisely alcoholic wines.
This devotional, points out these happenings to tell readers that whatever they are seeing going on around them have been from the inception of the world. Therefore, they are not to think their world holds no future hope for them. We reading this devotional are to use the information given here to build our hope and move on for successful ending of our life endeavours. We are to trust God, who has been keeping people who believe in Him till good ending of their lives to being able to keep safe. There is nothing that God allows to happen to us that has no good intention at the end. God is rock of ages. He is older than whatever happens to us. He will surely make ways for us even where there seems to be no ways. When we bear in minds that whatever thing that is happening to us now had happened to someone else’s before, we will be armed with how to pull out of it instead of giving up too soon.
PRAYER:
All knowing Father, give me understanding to know how to cope with every hard condition that comes upon me. I hate complaining and murmuring against you over ugly conditions I have faced. Let the Holy Spirit give me courage to fight out my tormentors in Jesus name.
