The past two days’ devotionals talked on God hearing the cries of the afflicted. Reading through the discussions will affirm that God hears the cries of the afflicted, especially His children who know Him, believe in Him and trust in His mighty power that saves and delivers. As akin to human beings, you reading this devotional might be among the people who still feel that God does not hear the cries of the afflicted as a result of your numerous and ceaseless troubles. There was a man who left church completely seeing how his father died and how his step mother dealt with him mercilessly. The step mother was a professed Christian but very terrible in character. Besides this, his beloved wife died in a mysterious way that prayers could not stop the death. He felt God does not exist as preached and taught. Many people fall into the circle of this man. Perhaps, you reading this devotional too!
Today’s devotional aims at bringing Bible passages that convince readers more that God answers prayers of the afflicted. As seen in yesterday’s devotional, those who do things rightly before God attract God’s hearing ears when they cry to Him for help. The Bible says: “The righteous cry and the LORD hears them; He delivers them from all their trouble” (Psa. 34: 17 NIV). If any Christian has genuine heart of righteousness and calls on God in sincerity, He hears the cry of that person: “The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth” Psa. 145: 18 NIV). You must know that the level of your love and respect to God determines how positively God responds to your cries. How sincere is your reverence to God? The Bible says: He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them” (Psa. 145: 19 NIV).
This devotional understands that when trouble overwhelms a mortal being, placing hope and faith on God firmly looks a hard thing to do. However, you reading this discussion must know that man’s extremity is usually God’s opportunity. If your cases seem too extreme, give God an opportunity to show you His faithfulness. Kill your doubt on Him and give Him your trust. Then, talk to Him to come for your aid, help and deliverance. Most often, negative fear, unbelieve, doubt, hopelessness and prayerlessness make us feel God does not hear our cries at troubled times. Are you, reading this devotional having same problems listed above? Put hope and faith on God today and speak to God about your ugly situation, He will answer you!
PRAYER:
Almighty and ever victorious God, conquer my unbelieve today and grant me hope, faith and courage to trust in you. I sincerely desire your intervention over my troubles in the name of Jesus.
