Throughout the Bible, we find account in which God, by supernatural means, provided for His people. One of God’s seven great redemptive names which He revealed to the children of Israel is “Jehovah Jireh”, The Lord will provide (Gen. 22: 14). Jesus Christ spoke intensively on trusting in God’s miracle of supply and not to worry over what to eat, drink or how to take care of one self; because God who created us has made adequate provisions for our needs. Jesus taught His disciples to put their trust in the God who fed the sparrows and clothed the lilies of the Field. His ability to provide for his children in time of need, even when miraculous means are required, is just the same today.
Jesus told us the futility of worry and anxiety in Matt 6: 25 – 32. Anytime we are tempted to be worried or anxious, especially concerning provision for our everyday needs, we can find help and encouragement if we will read and study these verses. Quit torturing yourself with negative thoughts and feelings. Have you ever seen a bird having a nervous breakdown or a flower drops its head with worry? Of course not! Just as God feeds the birds and clothes the flowers of the field, so He will provide for those who put their trust in Him. We can trust Him for everything we need.
David, learned to say, ‘The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” in Psalms 23: 1, during his harrowing experiences in the wilderness. God wants us to depend on Him daily, we see the simple instruction to seek the Lord, trusting Him to provide for our basic, everyday needs and for all other things He knows we need in accordance with His divine plan and timing for our lives. “Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Ps. 37: 4).
Jesus taught his disciples to Pray: “Give us this day our daily bread” (Matt. 6: 11). One of God’s best known miracles in the bible is the appearance of manna six (6) days a week to sustain the children of Israel during forty years in the wilderness. It is a symbol of how divine provisions can meet human needs appropriately. We can find hope, peace, and confidence in the fact that God knows exactly what we need, and He promises to provide for us.
When you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness over all other things, everything else we need will be given to us as well.
Prayer:
Help me Lord, to quit worrying and being anxious over anything I need in life; but rather to trust in your everyday miraculous supplies.
