One of the characteristics of God is, He is Omnipresent; meaning present everywhere at all times. When we seek to experience the presence of God on a daily basis, it can cause us to long for him in a deeper way. If you are in Christ, the Holy Spirit dwells in you, you have access to his glorious presence through Jesus Christ our mediator. Therefore, you have become the temple of God (1cor.6:19). The presence of God is no longer hidden inside the Holy of Holies, no longer walled off by a massive curtain, and accessible only by high priest once a year. The presence of God through the Holy Spirit has relocated and now dwells within us. We can commune with God anywhere and enjoy his sweet presence without using any manipulative techniques.
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork” (Ps. 39: 1). God is even present with those who have not confess to his lordship in their lives, his goodness extends to even those who have refused to acknowledge Him as Lord over their lives. That is why he allows his rain to fall on the just and unjust. He doesn’t give up on sinners, he has made a provision for reconciliation with him through the death of Jesus on the cross, and he is extending a hand of fellowship to as many that are ready to come to him, and he will give them rest. “…come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11: 28). When we sin and want to run and hide from God, we cannot escape His omnipresence.
When Solomon dedicated the temple, the manifestation of god’s glorious presence prevented the priests from fulfilling their usual duties (1 Kings 8: 10 – 11). God’s presence is a place where prayer is heard. “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him, I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him” (Ps. 91: 15). His presence is a place of judgment. The Lord will one day summon all nations before him; the dead small and great will stand before him and will be judged according to their works (Rev 20: 11 – 12). His presence is a place of blessing. “And you shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread and thy water, and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee” (Exo.23: 26). Choose to dwell in his presence today and enjoy all-round blessings.
Prayer:
Oh God, help me to choose to dwell in your presence where all round blessings are assured.
