One of the lessons learnt from yesterday’s devotional is that, betrayal is inevitable and comes to every mankind. That being the case, one ought to seek ways of dealing with betrayal and move on in life. Two ways to deal with betrayal were presented to readers yesterday. First, we were told to know that anyone can disappoint us any time no matter the trust existing between us. The second was not allowing yourself to be tie down with bitterness of the betrayal for a long time. When you see people around you as potential betrayers, your emotional disillusion towards them when the betrayal comes will be minimal. We were told that harbouring bitterness brings sicknesses, diseases and limitation in life. We will be seeing two more points today.
DO NOT DWELL ON THE CIRCUMSTANCES: Human beings often respond to betrayal in negative responses such as anger, bitterness, grief, sorrows etc., as studied yesterday. This manifests in dwelling on the circumstances. As Christians, we must try not to dwell on circumstances of betrayal. When you dwell on circumstances of betrayal, you will not learn what you should have learnt from it. Betrayal comes with good lessons to learn. Jesus’ betrayal by Judas Iscariot was reason for our gaining Salvation from His death on the Cross. A Christian lady’s best friend betrayed her by taking over her proposed fiancé. The lady felt too bad but worked on herself and overcame the bitterness. She got married to another man. Many years later the friend of the lady got affected with HIV/AIDS from the husband. The lady, her husband and the child got from the marriage all died of the disease. The lesson here is that, this Christian lady would have been the victim.
SEE BETRAYAL AS A TEST: Another step to dealing with betrayal is seeing it as a test. Most people hardly know that betrayal is a test on us. When been betrayed, see it as a test and make effort to pass the test by not yielding to the weight of the betrayal. Tests come before promotions. Very often, betrayal becomes a stepping stone to greater victories in life. After determining your betrayal as a test, forbear all the pains and wait to see how God will handle the situation thereafter. Reason the Bible says: “Wait and see the salvation of the Lord…” (Exod. 14: 13). There is no doubt that Joseph felt betrayed and disillusioned when his brothers sold him out to strangers who again sold him in Egypt. Much later, Joseph would tell his brothers that for them, they meant evil against him, but God meant.it good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive (Exod. 50: 20 ESV). Beloved brethren, may we accept betrayal like Jesus and Joseph. Even though the experience can be unbearable, God’s love stands behind our betraying circumstances. Let us always wait to see the salvation and faithfulness of God in our betrayal!
PRAYERS:
1. Pray and ask God to wash away from your mind and heart, every memory of betrayal experience had by the Blood of Jesus Christ.
2. Pray, asking God to show you the Spiritual lessons behind those serious betrayal experiences had which have never allowed you flow well with God again. Beg for enablement to offload them from your memory in Jesus name.
