Today’s devotional is directing our minds and faith to the great importance the fear of the LORD is to all Christians. The Bible says the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom (Prov. 1: 7; 9: 10). The direct meaning of this phrase is that the foundation of whatever wisdom human beings want is attached to the fear of the LORD. The moment one decide to reverence God, trust God, loves Him with the whole heart, God opens up channels of His blessings on such a person. For Christians, what the Spirit of the LORD does on becoming Christian is enabling one stays away from sins and evil practices. Jesus Christ said that it is the Spirit of the LORD who convinces the world of sins.
The Spirit of the fear of the LORD makes God to provide us with everything (Psalms 34: 9 – 10). Knowing that we have thrown ourselves at Him and have no other person to depend on, God draws things we need towards us. The Psalmist said that there is no lack for those who fear the LORD (Psa. 34: 10). Biblically, the safest ways the draw God’s pleasure upon ourselves is through reverencing Him, which is the fear of Him (Psa. 147: 11). Many human beings go extra miles looking for traditional ways of protecting their children ensuring they live long on the earth. But the Bible says the fear of the LORD draws God’s mercy and pity upon those who reverence Him, who fear to offend Him. Not only that God’s mercy and pity is drawn upon those who reverence Him, He brings righteousness upon them, their children and grandchildren from everlasting to everlasting (Psa. 103: 17).
The fear of the LORD brings answered prayers from God upon those with the knowledge of reverencing Him too (Psa. 145: 19). This is very interesting as all Christians have millions of needs converted into prayers. Reverencing God brings about righteousness and righteousness make God to listen to one’s prayers. The Bible says the ears of God is turns towards the prayers of the righteous but hates the prayers of sinners (Prov. 15: 19; 28: 9; Isa. 1: 15). Every human being looks forward to living long on the earth, the fear of the LORD prolongs one’s days (Psa. 10: 27). Next thing so important to longevity on earth is success and wealth, the Bible says too that the fear of the LORD brings divine blessing and prosperity to those who reverence Him (Psa. 112: 1-3). The beloved, there is hope that you have been so blessed with this exposition on The Spirit of the LORD on Jesus, running through almost two weeks now? Now, let your light shine!
