Following the successful inauguration of the Tinubu Presidency today in Abuja, Chairman, Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives,Rt. Hon.(Dr.) Yusuf Buba Yakub, has expressed optimism that the Tinubu Administration will lead the nation and her people to greater all-round development.
Rep. Buba , who made the above remarks when he hosted some close friends in his Abuja home,Monday, to mark the successful change of barton from one democratically elected President to another, said it was quite exciting to observe our nation transiting seamlessly from one leadership order to another, something the nation formerly looked forward to with disconcerting anxiety. While praying God to give the new President and his team the strength, vision and co-operation to achieve their plans for a new Nigeria,as envisioned by the Renewed Hope documents of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,Buba said he had explicit confidence in the ability of the new Nigerian leader to deliver on the targets he set for himself during his campaigns.
“As we rejoice over this new feat achieved by our great Party, the APC,in conjunction with the Nigerian people,we are not unmindful of the great challenges that lie ahead. But,we are lucky that we have an experienced and tested hand on the ship of State and, therefore, trust that by his usual dexterity, the ship of State will berth uneventfully with resulting ease.
“Most of us can reckon quite easily with what Tinubu achieved as Governor of Lagos State and can attest to the fact that the vision he put in place still drives the Lagos of today to the admiration of the world. What he needs are just our prayers and cooperation and Nigeria will take its place in the comity of the nations of the world. What more? Our holy book enjoins us to pray for our leaders always. This is what we must continue to do at all times”,the Adamawa-born lawmaker and realtor emphasized.
President Tinubu was sworn-in today at the Abuja Eagles Square by the Chief Justice of the Federation, His Lordship Kayode Ariwola in the presence of the immediate-past Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Presiding Officers of the Legislature, Sen. (Dr ) Ahmad Lawal and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, other heads of the Army, the Police and other paramilitary Organisations in the culmination of a series of events that began earlier in the week.
The 71-year old President , apart from having served as Governor in Lagos between the years of 1999-2007,was also at the Nigerian Senate about thirty years ago where he held the all-important Committee on Appropriations.
