One thing not mentioned in yesterday’s devotional about “sound mind” is that it enables one to have positive and clearer understanding of who one is in the inside. Knowing exactly who one is on the inside helps one to discover negative and positive impulses. Self-discovering offers us with ability to change from what is not the best for us and go on improving what is good for us. This therefore, is talking of “Self-examinations” as found in the two lead scriptures of todays’ devotional. These two passages talked of examining oneself so that one does not do things that would bring him damnation. However, the passages are considered very vital for developing self for self-organized life. Self-examination involves looking at our characters as well as actions through the eye of good conscience in other to amend our lives.
It is proper for a person of organized Spirit to note his/her weaknesses and strengths. Each of these gives us bad name if exercised in the extreme. You have to ask yourself what your attitudes, speeches, eating habits, mannerisms, and ways of judging others affect people around you. This helps in going along with people sweetly in relationships. There can be a feeling that we are not to please human beings but God. However, we must know that reason God created us alongside with others is for relationships and sharing love together. It is an inappropriate attitude for us Christians to be doing things quite oblivious of how we hurt others.
Self-examination involves searching our hearts and minds to finding out how we fair in actions, characters, and positive influence toward others. Lamentations 3: 40 says we should “search out and examine our ways.” This is serious. Examining ourselves must go with searching out our ways. Ways of doing thing goodly. Ways of how our lives affects others positively, ways we get resources and wealth if it is decently or dubiously. This devotional believes that if all human beings examine their actions collectively and search their ways among other people while doing things, the world would have turned a best place. When each one of us builds up our capacities to live an organized life; all others around us will possibly pick it from us. Then, the whole world will be well organized.
PRAYER:
Pray and ask God to give you humble Spirit that will enable you examine your life style every day and search out the possible ways you can adjust for good relationship with self, people and God. Pray and invite the ministering of the Holy Spirit into your heart and mind for divine directions in Jesus name.
