In a groundbreaking commitment to enhancing healthcare services in Katsina State, Governor Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda hasĀ pledged commitment to establish 361 fully functional healthcare facilities before the conclusion of his tenure.
A press release by the Gov’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, said the Governor made this announcement at the launch of the distribution of 198 motorcycles for routine immunization officers and ward focal persons at the premises of the State Primary Health Care Agency in Katsina.
Governor Radda’s visionary initiative aims to ensure optimal coverage of target routine immunization and other primary health care services across the state.
Speaking at the event, he called upon traditional and religious leaders, as well as other stakeholders, to mobilize their communities and emphasize the importance of healthcare interventions provided by local health facilities. He stressed that all these services are designed for the collective well-being of the people.
Addressing the immunization officers and focal persons, Governor Radda urged them to use the motorcycles prudently and ensure their proper maintenance to maximize their longevity and effectiveness in healthcare service delivery.
“I am fully committed to strengthening the health sector to meet the aspirations of the people of Katsina State,” said Mallam Radda, reaffirming his dedication to improving healthcare services for the citizens.
Earlier, Dr. Ahmed Tijjani Hamza, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, commended Governor Radda for championing a healthcare reforms agenda focused on enhancing service delivery. He assured that, with the support of development partners, the proposed reforms would be successfully achieved. Dr. Tijjani also expressed gratitude to the development partners for their unwavering support in improving the healthcare delivery system in Katsina State.
At the event, the Acting Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Agency, Dr. Nafisa Sani Nass, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Radda for his resolute commitment to transforming the health sector in the state.
Representatives of international donor organizations such as UNICEF, WHO, Global Alliance for Vaccine Initiative (GAVI), and Save the Children also conveyed their goodwill messages and highlighted their partnerships in ensuring quality health among the people of Katsina State. However, they brought attention to the need for increased commitment to address below-expected coverage in routine immunization within some local government areas.
Governor Radda, accompanied by his deputy, Alhaji Faruq Lawal Jobe and Hon Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji, his Principal Private Secretary conducted an inspection of facilities at the polio emergency operations center located within the headquarters of the Agency.
