We studied about three things to do should we be seen as the Blessed of the LORD in yesterday’s devotional. These included obedient to God’s word, carrying out His instructions and commandments as well as trusting in Him whole heartedly. Other things to do which attract God’s blessings to be mentioned today are pursing justice, walking in genuine repentance, faithful sacrifice to God and helping the poor.
Fourth is Pursing justice: Pursuing justice simply means ensuring that everyone is given what is his or her right. Treating people with integrity, working with honesty; fidelity and truth any time is justice. God hates injustices. Injustices bring disaster and curse to any individual or nation. The Bible says this: “Blessed are those who keep justice, and who does righteousness at all times, a good man deals graciously and lends; he guides his affairs with direction” (Psa. 106: 3). Every Christian is expected to foster justice in the society.
Fifth is being genuinely repented: Those who genuinely repented are known by their works and speeches. They are those who avoid works of darkness as much as possible. They are those who totally submit to doing anything that promote their virtues. These are people who God has forgiven them their transgressions. The Bible says this: “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputed not iniquity and whose spirit there is no guile” (Psa. 32: 1-2 KJV).
Sixth is Faithful sacrifice to God: This is a sacrifice given to God from clean and willing heart. It includes giving offerings, physical services, assisting mission works which proceeds from clean and willing hearts. In the Bible, our minds go to Noah, Abraham and King Solomon when talking about rendering sacrifices from clean hearts. These three were greatly blessed of the LORD because of the clean and willingly sacrifices (Gen. 8: 20 -22, 9: 1-3; 22: 1-19; 2 Chro. 1: 6-7). All of them received exceeding blessings and riches. We Christians who follow suit can as well be blessed exceedingly.
Seventh is helping the poor: Lending helpful hands of love and assistance to the poor attracts God’s blessing on those doing so. Failure to give help to the poor as well as total neglecting the poor has been one of the major reasons some are not blessed in the churches and the society. The Bible says those who consider the poor persons shall be blessed. Should he/she enters into trouble; God will quickly deliver him/her out of the trouble (Psa. 41: 1). Giving to the poor makes God hear and answer the cries of the giver (Prov. 21: 13).
PRAYER:
FATHER, I crave your blessings and favour all through the days of my life. Endow me with necessary knowledge of what to do to attract your blessings in the name of Jesus Christ.
