The federal lawmaker representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Hon. Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze, has disclosed his intention to ensure he step down democratic dividends to his his constituents.
Nwachukwu, who stated this weekend during a meeting with some members of his constituents in his Abakaliki Liaison Office, said as from next year, he would attend to the medical need of over 5000 of his constituents, embark of collation of data of unemployed youths with the aim to gaining jobs for them.
According to the lawmaker, arrangements were at conluding stage to procure agricultural equipment to facilitate farming activities in order to boost food production. He further added that plans have been concluded to place over 56 persons drawn from his constituents on monthly stipend.
He said, “I embarked on this project to ensure that the dividends of democracy gets to the grassroot. Health first and healh is wealth. Our free medical program that will be coming next year shall be all encompassing. And the forms that will be released for the youths free to fill just to get their data and fill our banks with relevant information about the youths and areas of interests is to help us plan and to be guided so that it will be a square peg in a square hole and not the other way round.
“Not where people’s need will be this and you will go the other way . That is why we reeled out this program. We want everybody at every level to be carried along. We are making preparations that whatever we bring down here will trickle down to the grassroot.
“The world is dynamic. We are growing and progressing. There is no way the thought of 2020 and the year 2000 will be the same. Things are changing, so you have to change with time. Old pattern of doing things has to change, so that is it. It is just to put innovations and set a very high bar for subsequent leaders that will come on board.
“People are remembered by the number of persons they lived inside of. Why do I say so? If you run into problem who comes to your mind first? Whosoever comes to your mind first lives in you. So all we are trying to do is to serve humanity to make we do things differently not the usual way so that at the end of the day when people see the innovations and the way we are doing things, then, we will be remembered.
“Like the mechanised agricultural system of heap making I told you, I did not finish it. Attached to it, is also a weeding machine. It has a solaor powered grass wedding machine. It can weed grasses like human beings. You know this herbicides being used in farming is causing more harm than good. These days, you do not go to farms again and see mushrooms. You do not see some vitaminous vegetables the way we used to see because of this herbicides. It is destroying our soils and we want to start ending it.
“Once we bring this machine that weeds grasses in my constituency, people will not be going for the herbicides and that will save our soil and also guarantee our health. We do not just also want people to engage in subsistence agriculture, but in commercial agriculture.
“The youths will migrate from the urban to the village, because food will be surplus in the village. When the food sarturates our market, we will begin to talk of export. We will open a different way they will guarantee business and food security and money in our pockets and the target audience are the youths.
“I intend to extend monthly gesture to protest of the poor in our wards for a start. We are going to increase it to communities and villages. But for now, I have mandated my coordinators to quickly get me the poorest of the poor, two persons in the 28 wards which is about 56 persons.
“They will be under our pay so that at the end of the month, they will take something home to help themselves. I advise my constituents to remain peaceful and law-abiding, support the present government both at the state and the national level and take the guarantee from me that I will represent them very well”, Nwachukwu assured.
