The world we live in has had long historical records of battling to achieve one thing that has not been achieved. Every government, both in developed and non-developed countries desires to have it, but the more it is pursued, the more it eludes it. This hardest thing for the world to achieve is PEACE! Individuals desire it on their inside. Religious people seek for it. The atheists lack it in their minds. Families thirst for it to no avail. Instead of having peace, the world keeps experiencing chaos and woes of wars. As ever notice, wars and horrors are overwhelming the world. War has reaped its dead by hundreds of millions and still adding. On the surface, the world preaches peace, pursues peace, and organizes conferences for peace accord. Yet, what people see is war, terrorism of different shades. But in the minds of the participants there is no peace talks but hearts devising deceitful words (Psa. 35: 30).
Over thousands of years back, world leaders inclined themselves toward wars than exploring possible ways for world peace. Reading some world leaders expressions will show that the world wants wars and not peace. For instance, one German Field Marshal, Helmuth von Moltke believed war was God’s establishment. He said: “War is an element of the order of the world established by God. Without war the world would stagnate and lose itself in materialism.” Joseph P. Goebbels, a Nazi Minister for propaganda and National Enlightenment saw war as a process of nature. He said: “Suppress war and it would be like trying to suppress the process of nature.” On the side of peace, an American Journalist, Ambrose Bierce said peace is “A period of cheating between two periods of fighting.” Another person, Cyril Connolly, an English critic and Writer said that peace is “A moribund condition, caused by surplus of civilians, which war seeks to remedy.” Ambrose considered peace as lifeless period. On peace, Helmuth von Molke said that peace is “A dream, and not even a beautiful one.”
Wars are multiplying in the world because wicked people rule the world mostly. The Bible says that there is no peace for the wicked (Isa. 48: 22). Going by the predictions of Jesus Christ about end time events, one will justify those writing in favour of wars. Jesus said “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars…” (Matthew 24: 6 KJV). On another side of the coin, we can see why war is preferred to peace. World leaders gain from war times than peaceful periods. All the powerful world leaders would want wars as they gain political control over some people, receive much money from sales of the weapons and economic growth through expansion of their trade routes. Today, the world has come to watertight hopelessness as chaos and wars have become fundamental problems. And we are still seeking for peace!
PRAYER:
Pray, asking God to bring to the world, those who will be endowed with wisdom and knowledge of bringing minimal peace into the world in the name of Jesus.
