…charges Nigerian Maritime to keep pace with others
The Honourable Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the 10th House of Representatives and Chairman, House Standing Committee on National Inland Waterways, Hon. Pst Ojotu Ojema, fesmi, has called for synergy among the 175 Member States of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in order to achieve it’s main aims and objectives.
Hon. Ojema according to a release by his Media Aide, Olikita Ekani made the call on Friday, 1st December, 2023 as a Nigerian Delegate at the ongoing 33rd Assembly of the Organisation taking place in London, United Kingdom.
He encouraged other Member States that have achieved so much in the area of Maritime Transport and other services to also transfer their Scientific, Technical and Technological Know-how to others lagging behind in order to bridge the gaps and achieve the main goals of the organization.
Ojema showered encomium on the leadership of IMO, describing it as one of the most organized and formidable International organisations.
The Apa/Agatu Federal Lawmaker added, the Nigerian Maritime Sector needed to do more in order to keep pace with the developmental strides of other Member States that have done greatly in the area, wishing all the delegates a successful Assembly.
The Assembly is the highest Governing Body of the Organization, the Member States meet once in every two years in regular and extraordinary sessions.
Nigeria is being represented by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Marine Transport and Senator representing Lagos Central, Sen. Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun and the Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Standing Committee on National Inland Waterways, Hon. Pst Ojema Ojotu fesmi, who would vote in Categories A, B and C to elect new leadership of the organization at the end of the ongoing 33rd Assembly Session.
