Yesterday devotional ran through Psalm 111: 1 – 9 telling readers one of the purposes God worked great and majestic things for human beings. We were told that we are to remember them and use them for thanking and praising God. Today’s devotional will trace out some of the great works of God for King David and how David valued the works for readers to ponder on. King David started by saying: “Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart and in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation” (Psa. 111: 1 KJV). Question here is “what prompted King David to make this declaration? Verses two to three of Psa. 111 gave the answer. God’s works are great; create attractions for people who delight in them, glorious and majestic and with God’s faithfulness that endures forever” (Psa. 111: 2 – 3). Many of us lacked in the ability to look at God’s numerous works; then ponder how awesome they are so as to thank and praise Him.
Many Christians do not evaluate God’s great works in providing those who reverence Him daily foods (Psa. 111: 5). Faithful and sincere Christians can attest to this fact; that God surprisingly provides His children with foods. Most of the rich and wealthy homes are “hunger ridden” homes. But God provides foods to the common people who believe in Him. Is rather unfortunate that these people saw no reason to thank and praise God for this provision. David saw God’s great works in giving the lands of other nations to the Israelites (Psa. 111: 6). Other Christians should know that where ever they are living now had been occupied by other people in the past. God did something that caused the previous people vacated the lands for them. We must give Him thanks and praise for making us landlords/ladies or opportunity to rent apartments.
We are living in the world that is full of injustices, arbitrary handling of cases and leaders in government failing in providing redemption for the people under them. But King David saw God doing all these faithfully in steadfastness and righteousness. He therefore, promised himself to praise God with the whole of his heart, in the council of the upright people and in the assembly of faithful people in congregations. God is still providing us with justices and we never care to give Him thanks and praises due to Him. Should we now wonder why King David was highly commended by God? There is chance for us alive to draw God closer to our sides by living daily in thanking and praising Him.
PRAYER:
HOLY SPIRIT, make me responsible by seeing the needs to thank and praise God in all manner of works He had done for me in this world in Jesus name.
