The summary of yesterday’s devotional is that God values offering or thanksgiving from a genuine and cheerful heart. The Widow gave all she had willingly and cheerfully. Jesus illustrated man’s view if giving thanksgiving offering and God’s view. Human beings believe thanksgiving offering should be out of abundant materials or resources with heart connection. But God sees the heart connect with the thanksgiving offering of individuals. Today’s devotional is having an expanded view on the Parable of the Widow’s Mite” by injecting that we human beings are to uses all we are to thank God. Great gift of thanksgivings supposed to be from man’s holistic being. Everything in us ought to be used in thanking God on thanksgivings day.
When King David was to give God thanksgivings, he would give things of quality materials, money, and foods for the offerings. King David would compose special songs dedicated for the Thanksgiving Day. While singing the song, King David would dance himself all out undermining that he could be naked. This is what this devotional means by “use all you are to thank God.” Your materials, money, skills, talents, singing and dancing styles are to be used for Thanksgiving Offerings. In the lead passage we read King David saying his mouth will tell of God’s righteousness. He further said, I will praise you with the harp, I will sing praise to you with the lyre, my lip will shout for joy when I will praise you. Finally, King David said his mouth will tell of God’s righteous acts all day long.
As Christians, giving all we are in Thanksgiving to God will be seen as a great thing. This can be done all day long, not necessarily on Sunday Service Days. Use all we are in thanking God means all we are. Our spirit, our body, our soul should be cheerfully connected to God while giving Him thanks. King David knew what he meant when he said: “Praise the LORD, O my soul! With all that is within me praise his holy name…”(Psa. 103: 1 NET). Whether we are singing praises to God, or dancing as Thanksgiving Dance or giving physical materials, it has to be done cheerfully and in worship mode. Some Christians see Thanksgiving Day as a day to compete with fellow Christians in giving. It will be more correct and a faithful act to give thanksgiving gifts in faithful and holistic minds and hearts. Are you poor? Give cheerfully. Are you rich and wealthy? Give graciously. Let all that is in you bless the LORD at Thanksgiving.
PRAYER:
LORD JESUS, make me ready, Spirit, Body and Soul including all that is within to give you, my heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit worthy thanksgiving every day.
