Food is very necessary for life, we need nourishment for energy and strength. But when we are fasting for spiritual breakthroughs, even if food is available, we choose not to eat because we want to spend time with God in prayers.
The benefits we will reap when we fast and pray are enormous, which can be summarised as follows:
1.) Deeper intimacy with God: (Psalm 42:1-3, 63:1-11).
David longed for the presence of God as he cried night and day. You too can deepen your relationship with God when you spend quality time in His presence during fasting and prating.
2.) When you pray regular prayers and you seem not to see results; fasting could be an added boost that triggers a faster release of answers to your prayers.
3.) 2 chronicles 7:14. when you approach God with a reverent heart and voluntarily give up the necessity of life (your food), and “afflict your soul” with fasting; it will help you to develop humility before God. Humble Spirit usually attracts God’s love and attention.
4.) Daniel 10:12-14. Daniel sought the Lord for help, he fasted for 21 days in order for him to gain wisdom and understanding for his situation. when you spend time with God in fasting and prayer, He will give you a clear mind and better understanding.
5.) Isaiah 58:6. fasting and prayer will equip you in breaking the bonds of wickedness. We add a spiritual weapon to our prayers that will break heavy yoke when fasting.
PRAYER POINTS:
a.) Lord, help me to deepen my relationship with you as I fast and pray.
b.) Let every usual request that I’m seeking an answer receive divine attention.
c.) Increase my level of humility as I approach you with a reverent heart.
d.) Grant me wisdom and understanding as I spend time in your presence.
CONFESSION:
O God, you are my God; I shall seek you earnestly; my soul thirst for you to see your glory. I will bless you as long as I live.
