The Greek word for soul is psuche. This word implies our mind, will and desires as seen in our personal preferences, choices and emotional responses to life’s situations. Our soul is reflected in our personality; our soul is self- centered. Your desire to serve God or not emanates from your soul and mind.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then, you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (Rom 12:2 NLT).
When you are renewed in the spirit of your mind, you will not follow the customs of the present age. The worries of this life, the desires to get rich at all cost, and desire for other things come in and choke the word of God that you hear and it becomes unfruitful.
The time has come for everyone to be determined to serve God and Him alone like Joshua did. “…as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord “. (Josh. 1:8) This decision has to do with the totality of your being, (your spirit, soul and mind).
A personal determination and commitment to serve God more serious than before. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10) You will make up your mind not to follow multitude to do evil. (Exod. 23:2); but to be renewed in the spirit of your mind (Eph. 4:23).
You need to guard your thoughts because, “As he thinks in his heart, so is he”. (Pro. 23:7) your thoughts dictates your behavior; God want to help you bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. (2 Cor. 10:5) but Satan desperately wants to bring “the world “into your thoughts. He can do this through your five (5) senses – especially sight and hearing. He presses his sights and sounds upon us all and unless we consistently refuse to look at or listen to what he offers, he will direct us into the Broadway that leads to destruction. We do become like the things we repeatedly see and hear. (2 Cor. 3:18)
PRAYER POINTS:
• Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O Lord.
CONFESSION:
For the Lord God will help me; therefore, shall I not be confounded, therefore, have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
