A curse can be defined as a solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power, to inflict harm or punishment on someone. It is an offensive word or phrase used to express anger or annoyance.
They are natural, established laws of the universe, ignoring these laws always bring certain disastrous results. It is unheard of for a man to fall in love with his father’s wife. That was what Reuben did that brought himself and his generation under a curse. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will reap.” (Gal 6:7).
Whatever you sow in life is what you will reap. Reuben at first excelled in honor and power, as it is fitting for the firstborn, but Jacob declared that Reuben “will no longer excel.” The sin of incest brought curse upon him, his tribe and his generation. By committing immorality with his father’s wife, he brought upon himself the curse that made him a reproach to his family, to whom he ought to have been an example and a blessing. His birthright was taken away from him, his father demoted him, although he did not disinherit him. He would still have all the privileges of a son, but not of the firstborn any longer.
When your experiences of life situations are upside down, it is an indication that you are laboring under a curse. What have you done that has brought you under a curse? What was the sin of your fathers that you are laboring under the affliction? (Prov. 28:13) “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”
Don’t cover up your sins because nothing can be hidden from God. I advise you today to confess your wrongdoing to God, and if possible, to as many you have offended so that God can have mercy on you.
PRAYER POINTS:
= O, God my father, help me to live a good life. May I not involve myself in any sin that will bring me and my generation under a curse.
= Forgive me of every wrongdoing knowingly or unknowingly, and have mercy on me.
CONFESSION:
As for me and my household, we are delivered from the bondage of every curse. We will prosper on every side and eat the fruits of our labor in Jesus Name.
