DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: FEBRUARY 10 Topic: LIVING A LIFE OF IMPACT. (2)
Scriptures: Acts 20: 17 – 35
The Apostle Paul spent almost 3 years in the city of Ephesus, he established a local church there and won many to Christ. He was able to look back and review the godly pattern that he had set. His life was an open book, a life of positive impact with no regrets. He had a servant heart and full of humility. It takes a mindset of humility to serve God and to serve the people. It took the mind of humility for Jesus Christ to die for us on the cross; without which, mankind would have been doomed *(Phil 2:3-8).
We have only one life to live on earth, therefore; we ought to live our lives in a way that will result in having maximum spiritual impact on those around us. As a father or mother, you need humility of heart in order to be able to affect the lives of your children positively for the Lord. As married couple, love one another sincerely and be a perfect example of God’s love for your family. Be the primary spiritual teachers of your children. There is nothing more powerful than when Dad and Mum read the Bible to the children and teach them about the love of Christ.
There are 3 ways you can make an impact for Christ (Matt 9:35-38):
(1) see as Jesus saw:
When Jesus saw the crowd, He looked beyond the surface and realized they were spiritually depressed and downcast. They were hungry and thirsty spiritually, and He offered to satisfy their needs. They are many depressed and frustrated people around you beckoning for your attention. You need to slow down your pace, look inward and God will help you to discover them so that you can show them the love of God.
(2) feel as Jesus felt:
When Jesus saw the crowd, He was moved with compassion for them. He felt the people’s suffering and His heart was broken. The world needs Jesus, please, don’t be quiet about it because Jesus is the only answer to the world’s ailments today.
(3) Do as Jesus did:
When Jesus saw the pitiable state of the crowd that gathered around Him; He got Himself involved. He rolled up His sleeves and got to work. You have to be involve in working for God, no excuse can stop you from doing the work of God. Work for God while you have the opportunity for the night will come when no man can work. *(John 9:4).
1. Oh God, give me the heart of humility to enable me serve you and humanity.
2. I cannot afford to go to heaven alone, help me oh Lord to be that perfect example of Christ for my family, the church and whoever I interact with.
3. Help me to live my life above reproach, let me have a conscience that is void of offense towards God and man.
I will reach out to the world with the love of Christ. I am ready to live a sacrificial live for the benefits of mankind. So help me God.
