Waiting on the Lord is one of the fundamental principles that every child of God must understand and live by, in order to become who God wants us to be. If you think waiting on God amounts to wasting your time, you will end up as a bait for the trap of the devil. There are enormous benefits in waiting on God; which by the grace of God some are enumerated in today’s devotional as follows:
(1) Waiting on the Lord build endurance: Col 1:11. Whatever you are waiting on God for requires significant endurance to do it well. Our all- knowing father knows our abilities, and in his grace, does not give us what we are not prepared for.
(2) Waiting on the Lord prepares you for the promise. 1 Cor. 1: 7. When God make us to wait, it is because He want to prepare us for that position we aren’t quite ready for. At times, we still have habits that are not conducive to the place we are to be. As we wait on the Lord, we acquire some level of organization, our priorities are shifted to conform to the standard of God; and our capacity is stretched so that we can receive even greater than we could have even asked.
(3) You will not be put to shame.Isa. 49:23, “They shall not be ashamed who wait for me “. There is no shame for those who wait for the Lord. God will not allow you also to be put to shame if you wait patiently for Him. He will show you the pathway to follow that will lead you to honor and glory.
(4) You will be blessed: Isa 30:18. “For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him.” Gen 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curses you “. You can’t wait for God and be cursed, and anyone cursing someone who is waiting on the Lord is only wasting his time, because nobody can curse someone who God has blessed.
(5) You will receive heavens answer to your prayers: God answers the prayers of those who wait for Him. Micah 7:7, “Therefore, I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.”
(6) You will have obtained your promised blessings: Those in a hurry and cannot wait will not only frustrate themselves but also receive nothing from the Lord. *Heb. 6: 15 says; “Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised. This can be your testimony too.
(7) You will enjoy divine coverage: Psalm 62: 1 – 2, “Truly, my soul silently wait for God; from Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.” No matter the danger that surrounds you or the negative situation you go through, you will experience the Lord’s salvation. This is consistent with the promise of God in Isaiah 43:2.
(8) You will sing a new song if you wait for the Lord your old song will give way to a new one because your story will change. Your new song shall be expression of joy over the salvation of God you enjoyed. Psalm 32:7, “For you are my hiding place, you protect me from trouble, you surround me with songs of victory “. May God give you a new song and change your lamentation to celebration in Jesus Name.
PRAYER POINTS:
(1) My father and my God, as I pass through the process of waiting, deal with every habits in me that could hinder me from my blessings.
(2) As I wait for you patiently, remove far from me every shameful situation and help me to enjoy divine coverage.
CONFESSION:
I have acquired some level of organization; my priorities are shifted to conform to the standards of God. And my capacity is stretched so that I can receive even greater than what I asked for. My life is blessed! Hallelujah!!
