In this era of result-oriented lifestyle, we want immediate results hence, we find it difficult to wait on God. You’ve finished the medical procedure, now waiting for results. You’ve bid for a contract, now waiting for the award letter. You’ve invested a huge sum of money in a business, now expecting good returns on your investment. Your marriage has not been blessed with children despite your faith and absolute trust in God, for the blessing of the womb. You’ve graduated with good grades, now waiting to be gainfully employed. Your children exhibit ungodly characters despite the fact that you take your time to teach them the word of God. You are waiting for God’s intervention and the season seems longer than necessary.
The following are the few suggested things to do while you are waiting on God:
(1) Micah 7:7, “But as for me, I will look to the Lord with confident, in Him I will keep watch, I will wait with hope and expectancy for the God of my salvation, my God will hear me”. Have you ever felt like your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling? Have you prayed about a concern, but it seems God is silent? Remember, the Cross is our guarantee that Christ is for us, and is committed to give us everything we would ask for. (Rom 8:32) therefore, let us be content with that assurance and wait patiently until He visits us.
(2) Put your hope in His word. There is only one place to go to for reassurance during hard times, and that is the Cross. (Psalm 130: 5-6) it is only when we put our hope in Christ that we can wait with confidence knowing that we will not be put to shame. Sometimes, God allows us to experience disappointments in life in order to teach us that nothing else will truly provide us with a firm foundation to stand upon; God’s word alone is unshakable. We can wait for the Lord, knowing that no matter how dark the night is; His light will break through in our lives, bringing abundant joy through a more intimate relationship with Christ.
(3) It’s easy to say we trust God, but our response to delays, frustrations, and difficult situations exposes where we are actually placing our hope. (Psalm 37: 7 – 8) when we choose to wait quietly and trustingly, we not only honor God, but encourage others to put their hope in Him as well.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, God. We are in an era of result-oriented lifestyle, we want immediate results, therefore we find it difficult to wait for you.
2. Help me to preserve, keep my faith intact, until you change my lamentation to celebration.
CONFESSION:
All my anxieties, all my cares, I take them to the mercy seat and leave them there, because there is never a friend like Jesus.
