The first series of this devotional as seen yesterday, addressed the authenticity of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We then, saw that He rose and was in the world appearing to many people before ascending to heaven. In this devotional, we will be looking at the Power of Christ’s resurrection. The devotional is not on the religious argument kicking against celebrating Easter. It is on what Jesus Resurrection portrays which Christians must commemorate. The three synoptic gospels above have records of Christ’s resurrection. Apostle Paul expressed his desire in Phil. 3: 10, to know Christ and the Power of His Resurrection. I think this is what Christians ought to concern themselves with, and not whether Easter is heathens’ observation or not.
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ proved that Jesus is actually a Son of God. It proved that Jesus Christ has victory over dead. His resurrection is therefore, a proof that the Saints who died naturally or martyred will rise up again. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the reason preaching of the gospel has never been in vain. Apostle Paul said if Christ has not risen, then our preaching is in vain (1 Cor. 15: 14). We can follow this with saying that Jesus’ resurrection is the sure foundation of Christian faith. If He has not risen, our faith would have been in vain. The Power of Jesus’ resurrection influences our faith seriously. Easter celebration, to me, is commemoration of the day “Christian Faith” was born. It validates all the claims of Jesus.
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ has “re-begotten” us into a lively hope, hope that is forever alive as stated in (1 Peter 1: 3)*. The word “begotten” means unique or one of the “one-of-a-kind.” Jesus’ resurrection therefore, made Christians renewed “unique children of God” or turn us again, after been born biologically from our mothers’ womb, one-of-a-kind with God. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ gave us the opportunity to endure sufferings and pains with Jesus, and in believing that God will surely rewards us with rising up to life on the last day. God’s power that was behind Jesus’ resurrection will be breath on our Spirits and raise us back to life no matter the years we spent in the grave.
Finally, the power of Jesus’ resurrection is the power of His Cross upon which He was crucified. Christians are never to take their minds away from the Cross. The sufferings of Jesus, the dehumanized ways He was treated because of us, the most shameful method of death prepared for Him for committing no sins and much more, are what Christians should be remembering at any Easter Day. In doing this, we will be mounting up with Spiritual Power daily. *We have all heard that the Cross is Victory. The resurrection empowered the Cross. Christians are to know too that the resurrection was reason Jesus could ascend into heaven, His ascension made the sending of the Holy Spirit who lives with us till date possible. Those who celebrate Easter must do it believing that Jesus’ resurrection brought many victories to the world. But it is only those who faithfully believe in Jesus and the power of His resurrection that will assess these victories.
PRAYER:
O LORD, I admit today that my knowledge about the Power of Jesus’ Resurrection is too vague in my heart. Make me know the Power of His Resurrection today. Holy Spirit of God unfolds the truth of the Cross to my mind today in Jesus name.
POSITIVE CONFESSION:
I am glad to know today that I am one-of-the-kind to God and Jesus. I am very unique. Hallelujah!!!
