That Jesus Christ has ultimate and Divine Power over all other powers is no longer questionable, except the atheists of course. The Bible says at the mentioning of His name, every knee will bow before Him and every mouth will confess Him LORD of Lords (Phil. 2: 10 – 11). This is because, as said in the scripture, God has placed Jesus above all other powers. Apostle Paul referred to Jesus’ power as “exceeding greatness of His power” (Eph. 1: 19 KJV). All through Jesus’ ministry on earth, He manifested His, as another Bible described His power in Eph. 1: 19, “incomparable great power”. Jesus demonstrated various degrees of the power over sicknesses, diseases, demonic afflictions, natures such as storms and death. He disgraced chronic madness (Mark 4: 35 – 39).
Jesus’ incomparable power became more pronounced when He rose from the death. His rising from the death magnified His power and made it more acceptable. Those thinking He was not going to rise saw Him resurrected with evidences of more powers. His resurrection redefined the position of His Disciples. One good thing Jesus did was transferring His Power to the Disciples. Before Jesus’ Ascension, He had trained and imparted His power on the Disciples. He at one time called them together and imparted them with His incomparable power so that they can as well heal the sick and the diseased, cast out unclean spirits (Luke 9: 1-2; 10: 1, 9, 17-19).
Before His ascension, He promised send them more power through the descent to Holy Spirit which was fulfilled on one of the Pentecost Day. He said “And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high” (Luke 24:49 ESV). During this time, He saw the need for His followers to be given more power, which has to be passed from generation to generation. This means, the disciples were given “delegated Power of the Son of God.” This delegated power is to be passed on to every Christian spiritually. Christians are all to experience and exhibit this delegated power.
Today’s devotional intends telling all readers that Christians have Christ’s delegated powers to do the works of deliverance, healings and casting out evil spirits on daily bases. This power and right of authority was shown how he saw “…one like a son of man coming with the cloud of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was escorted before him. He was given authority to rule, and glory, and a kingdom; so that those of every people, nation, and language should serve Him. His dominion is and everlasting domination that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will not be destroyed” (Daniel 7: 13 – 14). We Christians must by all means experience and exhibit this power. Experience by allowing ourselves to contact the power, and to exhibit it, by allowing ourselves to use the power; is what makes us delegates of God and Jesus Christ. It is only through this that we can be rightly addressed as CHRISTIANS. We must do the works of our Master if we are to belong to His group.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I now know your delegated power is for all Christians and not for the ordained people only. I pray that you empower me more with these powers and allow them flow out of my life henceforth.
POSITIVE CONFESSION:
I am not just an image and likeness of God. I am a delegated power carrier of God and Jesus Christ. Praise God!!!
