Prayer is the act of communicating with God. For your prayer to be effective, it has to involve talking to God and allowing God talk back to you. It is one of the most powerful weapons God has given us Christians. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”. (James 5: 16) Turning away from our evil ways by confessions and repentance will bring health to our body, because unconfessed sins can make us sick physically. (Psalm 32: 3 – 5).
Prayers that can be powerful and effective come from righteous people. “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” (1 Pet. 3: 12).
“Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and half years. Again, he prayed and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.” Prayer is important, and God answer prayer; therefore, we should make it a priority.
Elijah challenged 450 prophets of Baal to a contest on Mount Carmel, he prayed and the fire of the Lord fell from heaven. (1 Kings 17: 38).
King Darius issued a decree that “anyone who prayed to any god or man during the next thirty days should be thrown into the lion’s den”. During that period, Daniel prayed three times every day. He continued to pray to God fervently because he believed that his God will be able to save him. He was thrown into the lion’s den; but God sent His Angel to shut the mouth of the lions and they could not hurt him. The awesome did of God made King Darius to issue another decree to counter the earlier one that, “in every part of his kingdom, people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel.”
Every effective praying Christian needs fire as the symbol, evidence, and manifestation of God’s presence and power in our lives. People need to see the evidence that the God you serve is alive and active, so that they can believe and turn their heart to God. What we need today is the burning, consuming, illuminating and empowering fire of the Holy Spirit to fall upon the work that God has committed to us.
The fire of God can only fall when the Lord is given His rightful place in your life. You must yield your life as instrument of righteousness to God. You will make prayer a lifestyle or habit, don’t pray only when you have problem; pray at all times. When your motive is pure, God will glorify and honor His name in your life.
PRAYER POINTS:
Lord, renew my prayer altar, let your fire of revival fall on me.
Let people around me see the evidence of your work in me, so that they can believe and serve you.
CONFESSION:
I yield my life as an instrument of righteousness to God, as I give Him His rightful place in my life.
