As observed already, today’s devotional has three references with five Bible verses all together. Yesterday’s devotional revealed beautiful things about the word “kindness” and how important it is to Christians. As learnt, it is one of the characteristics of God. It has to be given to people not on the bases of their goodness to us but because we are to be like Christ and God in being kind. To be kind to one another is a divine order for the Bible says “…be kind to one another (Eph. 4: 32). Today’s devotional will point out few facts about how powerful kindness is in the world. Kindness changes the world positively faster than niceness. We have so many nice guys in the world who are not kind. Rather than affecting their world’s positively, they are negatively affecting the world as those they could not be kind to build up grudges against them. If you are nice and giving out of grudges you are not being kind. A nice person will ask a hungry person if he/she will eat. But a kind person goes straight to provide the food without asking.
The surest way to change many people is through kindness. Many people today still cherish kindness and compassion, even though the world is filled up with ungrateful people. As Christians, we can change people’s hearts from evil through showing them kindness. The rewards of kindness extend from generation to generations of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of kind hearted people. The rewards show on them in jobs opportunities, appointments and other favours on the bases of their parents’ kindness. King David rewarded Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, because of the kindness Jonathan showed to him (2 Sam. 9: 6 – 7). Kindness gives honour to the kind hearted. There are so many wealthy and rich people begging for honour from their people, yet there are those who have little but kind with what they have, who are highly honoured in high esteem by the same people treating the wealthy and the rich with disdain (Prov. 11: 16 – 17).
Kindness has power to soften people’s hearts against ones they were supposed to hate. If more people begin to show kindness in the world today, the nearest future will enjoy good relationships between people. It was because of kindness that the slave boy revealed where the enemies of King David were camped as David was pursuing (1 Sam. 30: 11). It will be fitting to add here that kindness provides safety, protections and supports to the kindhearted. People easily rally round the kindhearted people once misfortune falls upon them. The kindness of one Tabitha in the Bible made those who she was kind to, invited Apostle Peter to bring her back to life after she had died as seen in (Acts 9: 36 – 41). The beloved, let us therefore, get into being kind to people so that the present hate, wars, insecurities and general hardships in the world are minimised.
PRAYERS:
1. FATHER GOD, restore the world back to works of kindness toward one another in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. We as individuals have struggled for long to bring love upon the world and we have been failing. Sow love into our hearts to be kind to one another, O God, in Jesus name.
POSITIVE DECLARATION:
I prophesy total kindness into the hearts of mankind. I prophesy kindness and oneness into Nigerians. Hallelujah!!!
