The last devotional on this topic explained why “The Lord My Banner” which is rendered “The Lord Our Banner” came to be. It came from the victorious intervention of God to save Moses and the Israelites under him from the hands of the wicked, terrible and formidable warlord, Amalek. The last devotional concluded with encouraging word, telling us that same God who fought the Amalekites will still fight who ever positions selves as enemies of the living Christians. Opinion behind this devotional is for Christians to pray that those who gang up against them, the wicked ones with determination to annihilate them be visited with God’s vengeance.
The orchestrated and organised plans to wipe out the Israelites for ages are same plans being organised against God’s people globally these days. In those days, God proved Himself as Banner of the Israelites. He is still our Banner and will still prove Himself. By faith, Christians must believe God is watching over them, spreading His protective wings over them. God’s Mighty Power is His Banner. His Banner is His standard ways of dealing with people who are against His people. God always raise His Banner to defend those who reverence (fear) Him. King David mentioned this in Psalms 60: 4 – 5. The threats from enemies of Christians in Nigeria over the years are so intimidating and are still mounting up till date. As at 2013, many never believed children of God will remain in Nigeria till 2019. The fear seems really at its peak in 2021. But the Churches are marching on. Our believe is that God will defeat them against their accumulated horses, chariots (power bikes), choppers, sophisticated weapons of war if we trust in Him (Psa. 20: 7; Isa. 54: 17).
However, Jehovah Nissi, the Lord my banner, the Lord Our banner, will not just rise against our enemies to fight for us. For Moses, he held up the staff of God for hours of the day. When his hands were failing, Aaron and Hur helped to hold up his hands. Christians in same ways must take hold of Prayer Staff, lifting their hands up to God for the Lord our banner to go into action. Members of churches are to hold the hands of their leaders up and pray with them so that God’s banner fights the wars. Let this be now more than ever before! This nature of prayer should be purely warfare. The devil will certainly interrupt us. The human enemies too will go spiritual to corrupt our prayers, but we must endeavour to keep praying. Moses did not find it easy to hold up his hands. Aaron and Hur did not find it easy too. They all maintained persistency and persevered to earn the victory. If they did we can do!!!
PRAYER:
Jehovah Nissi, the Lord Our Banner, show us mercy and forgive us Christians our sins. Let the world once more see Your Banner over us, in Jesus name.
POSITIVE DECLARATION:
I make myself the Lord’s Battle Axe through prayers to speak victories upon my nation Nigeria.
