The Deputy Speakers, Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Lami Danladi Ogenyi has congratulated Nigerian Children on this year’s Children’s Day celebration, reiterating Benue State House of Assembly’s commitment to legislations and oversight functions aimed at protecting the rights and welfares of Nigerian children especially in Benue State.
The Deputy Speaker in an interaction with Pan Afric Reporters at the Abuja Continental Hotel shortly after her engagement at the National Discourse on Nigeria’s Security Challenges and Good Governance at the Local Government Level organized by the House of Representatives noted that Nigerian children are divine gift with great potential, which if properly taped, would be of great value to the country.
According to her, the saying that “children are the leaders of tomorrow” lies in a deliberate and strategic constructs and right implementation of policies, including the legislative framework to give quality education as well as providing enabling environment for the growth and development of children.
The children friendly legislature of repute notes that the Assembly is working assiduously to articulately domesticate all laws seeking to protect Nigerian children from all forms of abuses as well as catering for their economic, social, psychological stability amongst others.
Emphasizing the House’s commitment not to spared any effort at supporting policies that promote the rights of Nigerian children, Hon. Lami assured that the Speaker of the Benue State House Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Dajo who is passionate about the right and well being of children will continue to initiate and promote legislations that will empower children and ensure they are not only protected but provided with best world enabling environment for growth and development.
She said “Today, we celebrate all children across the globe as a divine gift of God and to that end we reaffirm our commitment to uphold and protect their basic rights ensuring their safety, education, and well-being while we will continue to strive towards a brighter future where every child can thrive.
“The day, which is celebrated on May 27 annually, is dedicated to celebrating children all over the world, reminding us that children are the future leaders of the society and it calls us into responsibility of raising the next generation of leaders by teaching them the right norms and values
