Waiting is defined as remaining inactive in one place while expecting something, and remaining ready and available for use. The book of Job 14:14 is a clear manifestation of a man who is determined to wait on God until his desired expectations comes through. “…. all the days of My appointed time will I wait until my change come”.
Waiting on the Lord may be one of the most difficult aspects of the Christian life. It requires patience and trust, giving God the benefit of the doubt that He knows what He is doing. With the full assurance that He is in control, and that enables you to wait for God to do His work in His own time, while I wait for Him.
Psalm 130: 5 – 6, “I will wait for the Lord, my soul waits, my soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning”. Watchmen watched for enemies who might attack at night, they are alert and obedient, always ready to respond when needed. Watchmen cannot control the rising of the sun, neither the process of the dawning of a new day, they depend on God to make things happen. As a watchman, you need to wait on God with trust that He knows all things and that in His time; He will fix your life in a perfect shape. We all need to have a watchman’s attitude; a confident and expectations that God will do what He says He will do.
When it is about waiting on God some of us do not like to wait; but we wait in traffic, in grocery stores, for the Doctors, for the birth of a baby, and so on and so forth. Waiting is the process of becoming what God wants us to be, because what He does in us while we are waiting is as important as what we are waiting for. Those who wait are those who work, for example, a farmer can wait all summer for his harvest because he has done his work of sowing the seed and watering the plants. Therefore, waiting is to the confident, disciplined, expectant person who most often, and sometimes, painful cling to God. Those who wait on God can go about their assigned duties with confidence that God will provide the meaning and conclusion to their lives and the harvest to their toil.
PRAYER POINTS:
(1) Waiting on God may be one of the most difficult tasks as a Christian; but Lord, grant me the grace to wait patiently for you.
(2) As a watchman, help me my Lord and my God not to sleep while on duty; so that the enemies will not invade my life and make me lose my blessings.
CONFESSION:
Waiting is the process of becoming what God wants me to be. Therefore, I will wait until my change come.
