The devotionals of April 19 and 20 talked about the Lord’s Prayer: “Thy Kingdom Come”. In summary, the two devotional dwelled on the knowledge that Christians, after prayed down the Kingdom of God, should believe they are in the Kingdom Spiritually already. Christians must think, hope and believe that God is already in charge of their general affairs and needs in life. We were told that God expects us to feel our being under His Majesty on the earth because He rules the heaven and the earth presently in favour of His children. By this postulation, all Christians are to know that they are not to live anyhow on the earth like the unbelievers. This devotional will be addressing God’s Kingdom Lifestyles.
Lifestyle is defined in many ways. If taking some of the definitions together it will stand like: “Lifestyle is a way an individual or group of people live, think and act as influenced by culture and rule.” Kingdom lifestyle can be said to be the “Prescribed behaviours of people as in living, thinking and acting as approved by the ruling King.” This suffices to say that every kingdom has prescribed rules which guide her citizens. God’s Kingdom Lifestyles are styles of living prescribed by God to be practiced by His children. We cannot agree to be living in God’s Kingdom without yielding our lives to God’s specifications for our lives. We Christians all belong to God’s Kingdom, and therefore, are bound to live and demonstrate God’s rules for us. Living and demonstrating God’s Kingdom rules confine us to living particular lifestyles prescribed and permitted by God.
We are going to see many ways we must live God’s Kingdom Lifestyles here on the earth to prove we are in the God’s Kingdom on the earth as real born again Christians. It must be noted that claiming or declaring our God’s Kingdom citizenship does not mean much to the world. What changes the people of the world to Christians lies mostly in the ways we live our lives as Christians. Reason the lead text of this devotional tells us that God predestined us to be conformed to the image of His son… (Rom. 8: 29); and also we should always present our bodies as a living sacrifice and stop conforming ourselves to this world (Rom. 12: 1 – 2). The focus of these passages is for us to live God’s Kingdom Lifestyles on the earth. There are however, alarming signals or evidences that many Christians live earthly lifestyles today instead of living God’s Kingdom Lifestyles. We will see what living God’s Kingdom Lifestyles entail as we dig deeper into the series of this devotional.
